About Jan Hegewald
Jan is the VP of Engineering at SumUp, where he has led tech organisations of up to 100 people. At SumUp, he established a new department and orchestrated the technical, cultural, and product integration of two others. Previously, as the Director of Engineering at Zalando, Jan introduced flexible team structures to boost customer value. At idealo, he served as Head of Engineering for two product areas, playing a pivotal role in reorganizing a 250-person product development team. Earlier in his career, Jan led a team at Campana & Schott, implementing Project-, Program-, and Portfolio-Management solutions for clients. He began his professional journey at Capgemini, where he developed custom software solutions as a Managing Consultant.
